Calories are the fuel that keeps your most basic bodily functions running; your body is using energy constantly but excess (unused) calories can cause you to gain weight. Regular exercise not only helps you to lose weight by burning excess calories but also boosts metabolism and gives you energy.
Intentionally adding the activities on this list will step up your caloric burn -- especially if you are not in the habit of moving much—and the best part is -- THEY’RE FUN!

Clean the house for 1 hour and burn 200 calories; crank up the music and you can probably boost that number by 15% by shaking a leg while you vacuum.
- One hour of guitar playing (standing) burns 200 calories and makes you a rock star.
- 30 minutes of Wii Just Dance or Wii Zumba shakes off about 200 calories
