Belinda Hankins came into the office for sales training earlier this month and I was struck by her composed intensity. Belinda represents Diet-to-Go in Southern, Maryland.
She is shapely and I asked her if she thought that she needed to be “perfectly in shape” to be a good Diet-to-Go salesperson.
She quirked a little smile and told me how she had never been this heavy but last year came down with an illness that caused her a lot of pain so that she could no longer work out. She also began taking medication for which the known side effect is weight gain.
She said that her customers can relate to and draw hope from how she has begun to turn things around with Diet-to-Go.
BH: I rejoined DTG in December 2014 after an eight-year hiatus and found a flyer in my Friday pickup bag that said "COME WORK FOR US." I love sharing information and great finds regarding products that have helped me. I love Diet-to-Go; the food is great and it's the easiest way that I have found to lose weight. I was telling everyone that would listen about DTG anyway, so I figured I might as well get paid for it.
BH: Yes, I am on the Traditional Plan. I get three meals per day seven days per week. I have quite a few favorites but, if I have to choose, for breakfast I like the Waffles with Peaches and Apples, for lunch the Turkey Burger, and for dinner the Herb Crusted Whitefish.
BH: I'm good at making anything healthy and light so I was a pretty healthful eater. Unfortunately, I had to take a long-term medication that made me gain 50lbs. It also made me crave sugar and anything starchy. In addition, I was fighting severe fatigue and loss of muscle mass; it took a major toll on my body.
BH: Well, besides having a job where I can make a real difference, I was in the worst shape of my life. It was just overwhelming. Diet-to-Go took one big challenge off of my plate (no pun intended). I no longer have to worry about planning, buying and cooking my meals. After about 4 or 5 weeks of being on DTG, I began to feel that I had more energy and even less pain in my joints. That was a game changer because it gave me enough steam to start going to the gym. Between doing a 360 on my nutrition and working out, my body and muscle memory are recovering fairly quickly.
BH: I have lost 30 pounds in 5 months and I am going for 20 or 30 lbs more. I might be fine with 20 lbs since my body is reshaping due to the strength training. We’ll see when I get there!
BH: Now that my pain has diminished, I am able to work out three to four times per week. I am shooting for five as I get closer to my goal. I am doing both strength training and cardio. I also have added Whey Protein into my diet as a bar or smoothie.
BH: My goal is to get in the best physical shape of my life, despite having chronic health challenges. What inspires me is to strive to live my best life, and to help others do likewise!
