Can the same fast-food company that nudged us into eating a late-night "fourth meal" and entertained us with a talking chihuahua really give us a Drive-Thru Diet plan that will help us drop a few pounds?
Ay caramba... do you really have to ask?
OK, so maybe Jared was able to lose some weight eating Subway's low-fat line of sandwiches, but Mr. Bad Food is finding it hard to swallow that "Christine" trimmed off 54 pounds by making repeated runs for the border.
In case you haven't seen the ads, a gal named Christine claims she lost 54 pounds by eating the bulk of her meals at Taco Bell. I'd be more likely to believe her claim if she said she had GAINED 54 pounds by pumping herself full of cheese-choked tacos, burritos and chalupas!
So how did she do it?
Well, like most fast food franchises, Taco Bell does offer a handful of lighter foods. At Taco Bell, it's the Fresco line that features a lot more veggies and lot less meat and cheese.
The ads that feature slimmed-down Christine promote "7 items under 9 grams of fat!" Sounds good until you realize your local Taco Bell makes its money by serving up dozens of cheesy choices guaranteed to gum up your weight loss efforts.
Mr. Bad Food believes that trusting your belly health to a fast food joint is like trusting your heart health to a donut shop. For every bran-rich selection there's bound to be a dozen artery clogging, cholesterol-rich picks enticing you to stray.
Willpower anyone?
And who amongst us has the willpower to make repeated visits to a fast food place without being lured into a lardy meal from time to time?
Not me.
I'd much rather control all factors associated with eating healthy by limiting exposure to bad choices.
Next week, I will do just that by diving into Diet-to-Go's super delicious Traditional Low-Fat program. My fridge will not only be full of great meal choices, but my belly will be comfortably full of great-tasting, good-for-me foods.
Because my entire week's worth of breakfasts, lunches and dinners will be delivered to my door, I won't find myself tempted to bypass the savory turkey loin dinner to pig out on a double-double cheese chalupa!
I say kudos to Christine for losing 54 pounds. But I have to suggest that she turn to a proven champion in the war on weight the next time her weight borders on obese.
And that champion is Diet-to-Go, a company that for the past 18 years has been helping thousands of overweight men and women shed weight while eating great!
