Diet-to-Go is more than just a healthy food company. We are a company that cares. We talk to people every day who depend us for our healthy lifestyle expertise. We know that change is never easy so we are always lending an ear and making suggestions that really improve lives.
Last year we launched our “I’m Committed!” campaign to remind anyone who wears the “I’m Committed!” bracelet that health is a priority. This is a concept that empowers love, health, career success and happiness. You have to be committed to succeed.
Diet-to-Go is committed to giving back to the community and demonstrated our commitment in several meaningful ways throughout 2015.
To reinforce the commitment to health concept, Diet-to-Go gave away a Fitbit Flex every day in January of 2015 -- one a day for 31 days – to randomly drawn, new customers. We know that, in addition to eating fresh, delicious, portion- and calorie controlled- meals, tracking food and steps makes losing weight twice as easy. So, at the most motivated time of year, January, we gave our resolutioners a leg up in the weight loss battle.
For the past 4 years Diet-to-Go has been delivering our extra meals twice a week to the New Hope Housing homeless shelter in Alexandria, VA.
New Hope is a shelter and housing service that helps its patrons find immediate and long term affordable housing solutions. “In addition to rapid re-housing, residents are provided mental health assistance; medical/dental services; life skills classes; cultural programming; job skill training and placement and a children’s services program.” On any given week, the shelter gets 80 to 150 Diet-to-Go meals to augment their food offerings. Food Service Manager, Anthony Johnson chuckles and says, “Considering this is diet food and most of our patrons may not have had a good meal for a while they are satisfied with the quantity and quality of the food.” Many New Hope volunteers also eat Diet-to-Go meals and, according to Johnson, “We love the flavors of what we have eaten. We think it’s a great concept!” Johnson encourages us to, “Continue to create magic!”

Diet-to-Go hosted four weight loss challenges in 2015 in which 210 people (customers and non-customers) lost a total of 1,874 pounds. These challenges were a way for customers to access free health coaching and get the accountability they needed to succeed at big goals. Each Weight-Loss Challenger had a unique story to share and really touched hearts at Diet-to-Go. Here is a brief glimpse of some of the successes our challengers have experienced this year (for customer privacy, only first names and initials are used):
Diet-to-Go made David H.’s favorite pastime more accessible. After losing 50 pounds over 6 challenges he can sit pretty in the stands.
“It was hard avoiding all the great snacks at Nationals Baseball games. But now I bring my own water and just enjoy the game. I always wear my ‘I'm Committed!’ bracelet and that reminds me of the journey I've committed myself too! It felt great buying some new shirts this weekend and my neck size having gone from 18 and a half to 16 and a half!” – David H.
“After about four or five weeks of being on DTG, I began to feel that I had more energy and even less pain in my joints. That was a game changer because it gave me enough steam to start going to the gym.” – Belinda H.
Improv actress, Molly B., participated in three consecutive Weight-Loss Challenges and lost a total of 70 pounds in 4 months. ”I feel amazing. I was so excited to win the Weight-Loss Challenge and I am looking so much better and feel even more comfortable on stage!” – Molly B.
This year Diet-to-Go teamed up with the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation to collect new, unwrapped toys at 28 of our fresh meal pick up locations. These toys will be distributed to disadvantaged children over the Christmas holiday. We owe a special thanks to Wellness for Life Fitness Center in Laurel, MD; World Gym in La Plata, MD; Sport Fit in Bowie, MD, Freedom Aquatic and Fitness Center in Manassas, VA, Gold’s Gym – Alexandria, Gold’s Gym- Manassas and the 22 Sport & Health Locations, who participated with us to make the holidays special for the children who need it most.
Diet-to-Go gives the gift of health every day. We are committed to providing delicious, pre-portioned, nutrient-rich meals to everyone from college students in Kentucky to elderly couples in Maine. We wish you a happy, healthy Christmas and a brilliant New Year!
