When Arwa Qammash gained more than 20 pounds after giving birth to her first child, getting back in shape was definitely on the forefront of her mind.
Arwa, a native of Saudi Arabia, has spent the last two years in Rhode Island studying to get a bachelor’s degree in information technology. Both she and her husband attend the same university and recently welcomed their first child into the world.
After having her baby, Arwa tried dieting on her own to lose the 25 pounds she had gained while pregnant, but wasn’t able to do it.
“I tried Diet-to-Go and I just ate what they sent me,” she said.
And for her, nothing could have worked better. At 5-feet-1-inches tall, when Arwa began she weighed 143 pounds. Within two months of eating Diet-to-Go, Arwa dropped 22 pounds* and is now at 110 pounds, the same weight she was at before she got pregnant.
“I’m used to the smaller portions,” she said. “I love the burgers, the turkey burger. And I liked the fish, it’s crispy fish. Even my husband tasted it, he liked it.”
And just as important, Arwa learned something new — how to adjust food for portion sizes so that she could eat more of what she wanted, but eat less of it.
“I try to eat the same portion and I really reduce the fat in my food and everything,” Arwa said. “On Diet-to-Go, I learned about the portion sizes. First the food is good, and also it’s made me lose weight. If you’re committed to it, it’s going to work. It’s easier.”
Nowadays, Arwa incorporates fitness videos into her weekly routine, and she finds it simpler to maintain her weight through exercise and portion-controlled eating.
“Everyone noticed I lost weight. Even my friends here. Everyone was surprised and they asked me what you do. I told them, I did Diet-to-Go,” she said.
