Mediterranean diet helps memory, thinking, study finds

Researchers from the University of Alabama looked at the cognitive abilities of over 17,000 people in relation to their diets and found that those who ate diets high in sodium, sugar and processed foods had a 19 percent decrease in cognitive ability. In contrast, those who consumed mostly Mediterranean diet-type foods (high in omega-3 fatty acids) showed improved memory and cognitive skills.
